Introducing...

Hi! My name really is Terri and I am learning to hear God’s voice. Most days, it is Whispers in the Wind in this very busy life I choose to live. Some days, it’s His loving presence that matches my heart beat. I really need Him.

In August of 2017, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cirrhosis of the Liver. I’m not a drinker. I don’t have any kind of hepatitis. I am a diabetic and I am overweight. So the cause is something called fatty liver disease. If I hadn’t had elective gallbladder surgery, I would not have found it. I am now in the process of meeting with a transplant doctor to begin the long journey to being put on the transplant list to receive a donor liver.

So there you have it in a very quick summary. This blog is walking with me as I fight this disease. I want to talk about the spiritual aspects of what God is doing in me and around me. I want to talk about issues that make my knees shake and stretch me. My heart is that as you walk with me, you will get maybe a small glimpse of how awesome God is.

This is my story...a testimony and a testament of how good God is. There are going to be some tough days...I’ve already encountered some in the last two months. There will be some pretty amazing days. This is my story being written one breath at a time.

I remember that day. It doesn’t feel like there’s been twenty years between now and then. The feelings are just a visceral today as they were on that day.  I remember getting a phone call from our son. I was still in bed asleep and the call woke me up.  “Mom,” he said, “Something horrible has happened. Plans

We walked into my doctor’s office with total peace today. No anxiety. No worries. Not a question in mind that God has all of this in His control. I know that for some, it’s hard to understand. I’ve been asked if I was mad at God for letting all of this happen to me...first cirrhosis and now liver cancer. I’ve been challenged by some to consider if there’s anything I’ve done wrong that could have caused this. Can I answer both of those with this one answer? I trust Him! I truly and fully trust God with everything I am and ever will be. I know He’s for me and not against me. In everything I give Him thanks...even this stuff. Do I shake and cry? You betcha. And then I take a breath and tell Him how amazing He is, turn up my praise music and sing at the top of my lungs. He is worthy to be praised. So with that...what is the plan? Yesterday at my orthopedic doctor appointment,  I looked around. Six feet of space. Masks on. Sanitizer available. Coffee bar out of order.  Yep. All normal.  Now please understand this. Since Covid restrictions have started, I’ve been definitely healthier in that I’m no longer getting all the normal bugs I usually get all year long.  I like not being sick with normal stuff.  But I think something else has happened. Something not so good. And it’s one that we can correct. You just have to be intentional. Connection.  As I sat in my chair far away from everyone, I noticed a young man. He had a knee brace on. His hair was fixed in a dreadlock updo. He was college age and obviously uncomfortable.  I cleared my throat and got his attention. “Football?” I asked, pointing at his knee. He nodded yes.
